  • On 1 January 2025, Swedish Trotting Association introduced a clarifying rule on how a horse that is bleeding in connection with a competition should be handled. A horse that is competing must be in a competitive condition and it is the trainer's responsibility to ensure that this is followed. According to animal welfare legislation, a horse that is being trained for or used in a competition must be free from injury and illness that can be assumed to cause suffering.

Basically, no changes have been made to the regulations, but it is about clarifying the handling instructions and making it clear that a horse that is bleeding is not considered to be in a competitive condition. The aim is to create a clear routine to ensure uniform assessment and handling on all tracks.
